Good comment Jan. I think I find myself reacting more to the style suggested by the word 'proclaim' which is that of shouting rather than personally interacting.
You are correct in saying that there is 'nothing wrong with a clear declaration of a particular truth'. I entirely agree. the question is "how?" and what might work best in the radio/media context in which we work...

Good point gms! The essential belief in a God who is behind everything and before everything and above everything is critical to our entire worldview. Thus to talk about Jesus could be without foundation. However, we need to remember that Jesus is also God's revelation of Himself. People may know Jesus as a prophet or figure from history and need to build on that existing awareness.
It may sound back-to-front but sometimes we have to go "backwards". But then it all depends on the context in which we are wqorking, doesn't it?

The warning raised by namwobj is very important and needs to somehow be incorporated well. Money can buy purposeful provocative untrue media worldwide - with the sole intention to damage or destroy -

Proclamation that God IS - and he is alive is something overlooked often. To jump to proclaim Jesus when no-one knows that God IS can be faulty proclamation. If there is no such knowledge - and people have been told it is very inferior to believe that God IS as there is NO GOD - then how can proclamation of Jesus be heard unless the foundation is also proclaimed?

Proclamation doesn't need to be a statement of the entire gospel in one hit. The idea that proclamation is equivalent to an evangelistic sermon will lead us to reject it as undesirable radio programming. But there is nothing wrong with a clear declaration of a particular truth -little and often as the situation allows.

People may well disagree with the point we make, but then, some will have ears to hear. And we don't want to be in the position of providing only "Chicken Soup" for the soul. A chunk of meat is good now and then.

Some people are always bursting with new ideas. They have a focused curiosity about the world and see potential radio programs everywhere they look.

But if that's NOT you, how do you go about getting new ideas? It's got to be by picking others' brains. Brainstorming within your programming team, getting out into your community and asking people.

There is a story of a radio station that had a regular health program. The producer struggled to keep coming up with new ideas. Next-door to the radio station was a health clinic where staff were overworked and wished they had more time for community health promotion. But they never got together!
